Answer |
|
| I
have one SPN-55/SPN-55e module. Can I have more phone
(caller) inputs?
|
The R-55 and R-55e consoles can support
more than one
SP-55(e)
phone module. However, there will be no conferencing between the
multiple callers. In other words, the callers will not be able to hear
each other. If you want to handle multiple callers and need them to be
able to hear each other you will have to set up conferencing outside of
the console. For additional information see our
white paper Making
The Connection (pdf).

|
| How
do I increase the number of mic channels?
|
The R-55 and R-55e consoles have an
internal four channel
QMP-4 mic
preamp card. Mics are connected by wiring the mic to one of the QMP-4
inputs and wiring the corresponding QMP-4 output to an SL-55 or SL-55e.
A second
QMP-4 can be added to allow the use of up to eight mics. If additional
mics are needed beyond eight, external mic preamps must be used.

|
| How
do I set up talkback from the control room to the studio?
|
Any SL-55/ SL-55e input can be set up to
feed the internal
talkback
bus by turning the channel's TALKBACK dipswitch on (dipswitches are
located at the top of the module, underneath the hinged meterbridge).
The audio on this bus interrupts the studio output when the studio TB
button on the console is pressed. A TB trimpot just below the
CRS-55/CRS-55e (or SS-55/SS-55e) dipswitches allows you to adjust the
volume of the talkback signal.

|
| How
do I set up talkback from the studio to the control room?
|
Any SL-55/ SL-55e input is put into
CUE when an external
user-supplied switch, connected to pins 17 and 19 of that channel's
DB-25 connector, is pressed. The operator can then hear that channel's
audio over the console CUE system.
|
|
| How
do I talk with the caller off line?
|
Assign both the desired mic and the caller
to PRE. This
results in
the mic signal being fed to the caller. Put the caller in CUE to hear
the caller on the console cue system.
