|
What's the first step I have to take to program functions for the D-16?
|
You have to enter Configuration Mode. The directions for this are in the Administrator manual that came with the console.

|
|
How do I change the displayed name for a signal?
|
After entering Configuration Mode, follow the instructions in the Administrator manual for editing NAMES.

|
|
How do I get Mic3 and Mic4 to work?
|
After entering Configuration Mode, set the value of attribute 3 of
the Line 10 ST signal to “M” to configure Line 10 as two
independent mono inputs.

|
|
How do I increase the number of mic channels?
|
The D-16 is designed to handle up to four microphone inputs. Two
factors are involved in this setup. First, the console has four mic
preamp sections; wire the mic to a mic pre input, then wire that mic
pre output to an analog input. We have provided two special line inputs
for this purpose, Line 9 and Line 10. Each of these line inputs can be
programmed in Configuration Mode as either a single stereo input or two
independent mono inputs. Line 9 is factory configured as two mono
signals, Mic1 and Mic2, while Line 10 is factory configured as one
stereo signal. Configuration is required to use Line 10 as two mono
signals (Mic3 and Mic4) – see the answer to the question
“How do I get Mic3 and Mic4 to work?”
You can always
connect additional mics by using external mic preamps and connecting
them to a normal console stereo input that is not configurable as two
mono inputs. You would have to Y your connection to both left and right
sides of the stereo input. Any of the inputs on the console can use the
mute and tally logic functions.

Can I have more phone (caller) inputs?
|
The D-16 console has two dedicated phone caller inputs. If you need
to handle additional callers with this console, please see our white
paper
Making
The Connection (pdf).

How do I set up talkback from the control room to the studio?
|
Any D-16 fader can be set up in Configuration Mode to feed the
internal talkback bus. The audio on this bus interrupts the studio
output when the studio TALKBACK button on the console is pressed.

|
How do I set up talkback from the studio to the control room?
|
Any D-16 fader with an assigned logic port is put into CUE when an
external user-supplied switch, connected to pins 6 and 18 of that
fader's DB-25 logic connector, is pressed. The operator can then hear
that fader's audio over the console CUE system.

|
How do I talk with the caller off line?
|
With the phone channel turned off, press the PH button at the top
of the phone channel. Dial up a source (this can be an input or it can
be a bus) with the SOURCE SELECT knob. When the desired source is
found, press ENTER. Now, whenever the phone channel is off, the
caller(s) will be fed the selected source. If the source was a console
bus, then all audio on that bus is fed to the caller(s) when the phone
channel is off.

Where is the EXT input, as used for Off Air monitor?
|
There is not a pre-named input called EXT. You simply need to
select one of the inputs and designate it as such. Give it an easy to
identify name, such as AIR.
