Audioarts Air 2+ FAQ
Question Answer

How do I get my mic channels to work? The Air 2+ has connections for two microphone inputs, which are the inputs to two internal microphone preamps. The mics are wired to these connectors as indicated in the product manual. You must then use an RCA Y-adapter cable to connect a microphone preamp output to the left and right inputs of the channel (fader) you want that microphone to be controlled by. Do the same thing with the other mic.

How do I increase the number of mic channels? The Air 2+ has two microphone inputs that have some dedicated features. Mic 1 is used as an operator mic and is the talkback source when talking to a caller off line or when talking to the studio output. Mic 2 is used as a studio mic and can use an external user-supplied switch to provide a talkback function to the control room, allowing talent in the studio to talk to the board operator via the console cue system. You can always connect additional mics by using external mic preamps, but these additional mic inputs will not provide any of the special functions provided by Mic 1 and Mic 2.

Can I have more phone (caller) inputs? The Air 2+ console has one dedicated phone caller input. If you need to handle additional callers with this console, please see our white paper Making The Connection (pdf).

How do I set up talkback from the control room to the studio? The Mic1 signal feeds an internal talkback bus. The audio on this bus interrupts the studio output when the studio TB button on the console is pressed.

How do I set up talkback from the studio to the control room? The Mic2 signal is put into CUE when an external user-supplied switch, connected to pins 11 and 12 of the console's DB-25 rear panel connector, is pressed. The operator can then hear Mic2 over the console CUE system.

How do I talk with the caller off line? The Mic1 signal feeds an internal talkback bus. The audio on this bus interrupts the caller feed output when the caller TB button on the console is pressed.

Is the remote on logic signal present as long as the channel is on? No, it is only present when the On/ Off switch is held while turning the channel on. It is not present when turning the channel off.
